Paul Compares Our Bodies to the Temple

Sacred gifts from God

Corinth was a big city by the sea. The city had lots of people who did not worship God. Paul taught the people in Corinth about Jesus. Many people believed and were baptized.

Acts 18:8–11

After Paul left, he heard that members of the Church were having some problems. Many people in Corinth were not following God’s commandments about how to treat or use our bodies.

1 Corinthians 6:13–18

Paul wrote them a letter. He said that our bodies are like the temple of God. We treat the temple with respect because it is God’s house. We should also treat our bodies with respect because they are a gift from God.

Heavenly Father wants us to choose to do good things with our bodies. When we do, we can have the Holy Ghost with us.

Paul said that Jesus Christ paid a price for us through His suffering. We show our love for Jesus by making good choices about our bodies and keeping His commandments. We show God that we are thankful for the wonderful gift of our bodies by treating them like a temple.
