Introduction
About the New Testament
The story of Jesus Christ and His followers
The Bible has two parts: the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament has writings by prophets from long ago. Some of these prophets wrote that God promised to send a Savior. He would be the Son of God and save us from sin and death so we can live with God again.
Isaiah 53:3–5; Jacob 7:11; Moses 4
The New Testament tells about how this promise was fulfilled. It tells about the birth of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
The New Testament also tells about Jesus’s life. He lived among the Jews and taught us how to live so we can return to Heavenly Father someday.
Jesus blessed and served people. He did many miracles for them, like healing people who were sick and bringing people who were dead back to life.
Jesus chose twelve of His followers to be Apostles. He gave them authority to lead His Church.
Because He loves us, Jesus took upon Himself all of our pain, sadness, and sin. He died for us. Then, three days later, He overcame death and was resurrected! Jesus Christ lives and because of Him, we can repent of our sins and live again after we die.
People who knew and loved Jesus wrote about all of this. His Apostles wrote letters to help members of the Church build their faith in Jesus Christ. The things they wrote have been saved for many, many years. Now you can read them in the New Testament and learn how to follow Jesus Christ.
