Revelation
Jesus Christ Will Come Again
John’s vision of hope in Jesus Christ
The Apostle John had a special vision. He saw Jesus Christ, who showed John many things about the past and the future. He told John to write the things he saw. Jesus knew the Saints were trying their best to follow Him. Jesus wanted them to have hope that He is more powerful than the evil in the world.
Revelation 1:1–2, 9–11, 13–15, 19; 2–3
In his vision, John saw a book that no one could open. Then John saw a lamb that represented Jesus Christ; He could open the book. John learned that before the earth was created, Heavenly Father chose Jesus to be our Savior. This was the most important part of God’s plan, and only Jesus could do it.
John also saw a dragon that represented Satan. Satan did not like God’s plan. He started a war in heaven. Most of Heavenly Father’s spirit children had faith in Jesus Christ and chose to follow Him. But some of them chose to follow Satan. Because of their choice, they had to leave heaven.
John saw that Satan and his followers continued to fight against Jesus and His followers on earth. They tried to trick people into not believing the Savior’s gospel. There was a lot of war, destruction, and sickness.
Revelation 6; 8–9; 12:17; 13:11–18; 17–18
But Heavenly Father sent angels from heaven with the gospel of Jesus Christ, so it could be shared with everyone on the earth.
Some people would believe in Jesus and keep His commandments, as they did in heaven. Their testimony of Jesus would help them win the war against Satan.
John saw that Jesus Christ will come to earth again. He will be the King of the whole world. Satan will have no more power. Because of Jesus, there will be no more sadness or pain. All the people who believe in Jesus and keep covenants with Him will live with Him and Heavenly Father forever.
