Jesus Heals Ten Men Who Had Leprosy
The importance of gratitude
As Jesus was traveling, He entered a village and saw ten men who had a very bad skin disease called leprosy. People with leprosy had to stay away from everyone, even their families, so they didn’t make other people sick.
The men called out to Jesus and asked Him to heal them. Jesus told them to go to the priests in the town. Only the priests could decide whether they could be with other people again.
Luke 17:13–14; see also Leviticus 14:2–3
As the ten sick men walked to visit the priests, a miracle happened. Their sickness went away. They were healed!
When one of the men saw that he was healed, he turned around and thanked God with a loud voice. He was a Samaritan.
The man fell at Jesus’s feet to thank Him for what He had done. Jesus asked where the other nine men were who were healed. Only one man had come back to thank Him! Jesus then told the man, “Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.”
