Jesus Heals Ten Men Who Had Leprosy

The importance of gratitude

Jesus sees a group of men who are sick.

As Jesus was traveling, He entered a village and saw ten men who had a very bad skin disease called leprosy. People with leprosy had to stay away from everyone, even their families, so they didn’t make other people sick.

Luke 17:11–12

The men ask Jesus to heal them.

The men called out to Jesus and asked Him to heal them. Jesus told them to go to the priests in the town. Only the priests could decide whether they could be with other people again.

The men are healed.

As the ten sick men walked to visit the priests, a miracle happened. Their sickness went away. They were healed!

Luke 17:14

One of the men thanks God for being healed.

When one of the men saw that he was healed, he turned around and thanked God with a loud voice. He was a Samaritan.

Luke 17:15–16

Jesus talking with the man about faith.

The man fell at Jesus’s feet to thank Him for what He had done. Jesus asked where the other nine men were who were healed. Only one man had come back to thank Him! Jesus then told the man, “Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.”
