Jesus Forgives a Woman
“She loved much”
A man named Simon invited Jesus to come to his house and eat with him. Simon was one of a group of leaders called Pharisees.
While they were eating, a woman came to Simon’s house. She had heard that Jesus was there. She wanted to show her gratitude and love for Him.
The woman cried when she saw Jesus. Her tears washed His feet. Then she dried His feet with her hair. She kissed His feet and put scented oil on them.
Simon knew that this woman had committed many sins. He thought that if Jesus was really a man of God, He would know that this woman was a sinner, and He wouldn’t let her touch Him.
Jesus knew what Simon was thinking. He told Simon that the woman had washed His feet because she loved Him. Normally, guests were given water to wash their feet. Simon had not done anything like that to show love for Jesus.
Jesus told the woman she was forgiven of her sins because she loved Him and had faith in Him. He told her she could go in peace.
