An Angel Frees Peter from Prison
God answers prayers
A king named Herod did not like Christians. He put to death the Apostle James. Then he put Peter in prison. He placed 16 soldiers to guard the prison.
When the members of the Church heard this, they prayed and prayed to Heavenly Father for Peter.
One night, Peter was asleep. He was bound with two chains between two soldiers.
Suddenly, a light shined in the prison, and an angel appeared. “Arise up quickly,” the angel said, and the chains fell from Peter’s hands. The angel told Peter to follow him.
Peter thought he was dreaming. He followed the angel past the guards. The iron gate that led to the city opened by itself, and Peter and the angel walked through it.
The angel left, and Peter realized he wasn’t dreaming. He knew the Lord had sent the angel to save him.
Peter went to the home of a woman named Mary, where many Church members had come to pray. He knocked on the door.
A girl named Rhoda came to the door. When she heard Peter’s voice, she was so happy! She ran to tell the others.
When Rhoda told everyone that Peter was at the door, they didn’t believe her. Peter kept knocking.
Finally, they opened the door and saw that it was true. Peter was safe! The Lord had answered their prayers. Peter told everyone how the Lord had brought him out of prison.
