Relying on Jesus Christ for Salvation

Saved by His grace

People being baptized.

People from many different places were joining the Church of Jesus Christ. Members of the Church were called Saints.

Romans 1:7

Two men talking about the law of Moses.

Some of the Saints were Jews who still followed the law of Moses. Others were not. They disagreed about whether they needed to follow the law of Moses.

Romans 2:14–15, 23–29

Paul writing a letter.

Paul knew that the Saints had these questions. He wrote a letter to the Saints in Rome. He told them that no one can be saved just by trying to follow the law of Moses. All of us sin, he explained. To be saved, everyone needs to have faith in Jesus Christ and follow Him.

Romans 3:20–23

The two men reading Paul’s letter.

Paul taught that God sent Jesus Christ to take our sins upon Himself. Because of Jesus’s sacrifice, we can all repent and be forgiven of our sins.

Romans 3:24–31

The two men taking the sacrament together.

Paul taught that Jesus Christ gives us the gift of forgiveness and strength to do good things. This loving gift is called the grace of Jesus Christ, and it fills us with hope and joy. Paul said that when we are baptized, as Jesus was, it’s like starting a new life as a follower of Jesus.
