I played goalie in a football [soccer] tournament. My friends on the team were sometimes very crude. They could have bad attitudes and tempers.

One day, I was a little nervous before our game started. Before we played, I decided to walk away from my friends and pray. I prayed even though I knew that if my friends heard me, they would laugh at me. Soon, I heard two of them mumbling and talking about me. But then I heard someone else say, “Brigham is a believer. Leave him alone.”

When I heard that, I was so happy. When I finished praying, I said, “I’m ready.” The Lord blessed me that day, and we played well and won. My friends congratulated me, and I was happy. When I got home, I said a prayer thanking the Lord.
