“My brother Set and I have autism. This made it really hard for me to study in school. Then my mom invited us to read the scriptures in the mornings as a family, and it helped me so much. It gave me a boost in school and helped me be self-sufficient.

“Another time, I didn’t want to go to a youth conference because I was really busy with a class in school. But I went, and I felt like I was blessed to do better in the class than I thought I would. Because of these experiences, I postponed my university studies and am preparing to go on a mission. I know that sacrifice will help me again.”

Meet Set!

young man

Age 17. Likes playing video games, making cardboard armor, and playing with their family’s three cats.

Set tries to be kind to others, even though people aren’t always kind to him.

“There was a guy at school who had some health problems. Also, his glasses didn’t work very well, and he sometimes bumped into things. One day he fell down, and people made fun of him. I didn’t—I went and helped him up. Soon, he stopped coming to school. I saw him later at his birthday party, and he was in a wheelchair. I tried to help him have a good time at his party. He was my friend.

“I also made friends this year at FSY. At first, I didn’t want to go. I’ve been before, and some people didn’t want to hang out with me. But this year no one judged me—on the contrary, they appreciated me for what I’ve been through.”

Meet Isaac!

young man

Age 14. Likes playing video games, playing with their cats, and studying to be a veterinarian someday.

Isaac trusts that the Savior will help him.

“We were at my grandma’s house once when my brother and cousin came in with a very small orange cat. It was injured and didn’t trust any of us. Finally, I got it to trust me. I took care of it and gave it food. When it was time to go, my parents let me bring it home. I think the Holy Ghost and Jesus Christ were helping me.

“Another time, I was feeling like I was less than everyone else. I read the scriptures, and I came across Alma 7:11: ‘And he shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind.’ Basically, Jesus Christ went through all our pain, and He will always be there to help us, even in the smallest things.”

Walking with the Savior

Carlos, Set, and Isaac aren’t just brothers—they’re friends. And they each rely on their greatest Friend and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Isaac: “I know that Jesus Christ lives. He suffered all our pains. Life isn’t always easy, but that’s OK. He can perform miracles.”

Set: “Because of Him, our lives can be guided to the right place. If we let ourselves be guided by Him, everything will be fine.”

Carlos: “Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have the power to help us. If we obey Them, They will help us with the things we go through in our lives.”
