To the Point
Why do the scriptures talk about the earth’s Creation?
The Creation, by Annie Henrie Nader
The scriptures talk about the Creation in order to teach us the purpose behind it rather the processes involved in it.
When Moses asked the Lord to “tell [him] concerning this earth … and also the heavens,” the Lord said, “This is my work and my glory—to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man” (Moses 1:36, 39).
When the Lord taught Abraham about the Creation, He showed him the Council in Heaven, where God’s spirit children were gathered. Abraham saw the premortal Jesus Christ explain:
“We will go down, for there is space there, and we will take of these materials, and we will make an earth whereon these may dwell;
“And we will prove them herewith, to see if they will do all things whatsoever the Lord their God shall command them;
“… And they who keep their second estate shall have glory added upon their heads for ever and ever” (Abraham 3:24–26).
God’s vast and glorious creations, including this earth, are part of His plan to help us, His children, receive salvation and exaltation.
