Learning After Losing My Grandmother

Losing my grandmother was a challenge for me. We were very close. I felt really sorrowful. I felt like the hope I needed had disappeared.

Before she passed, I wasn’t really strong in the gospel of Jesus Christ. I was relying on the testimonies of others. But during that first week of grief, I went to a religion class where a teacher taught about the Atonement of Jesus Christ and the Father’s plan of salvation. I realized that I’ll be able to see my grandmother again. We can be reunited in the next life through temple ordinances.

This strengthened my testimony. I started to focus more on my Savior Jesus Christ and to learn more about His gospel. Now I seek answers through the scriptures and Come, Follow Me. I love to listen to conference talks, especially from the prophet, President Russell M. Nelson. As I listen to talks, rely on the scriptures, pray and ponder, and ask for the Holy Ghost, my testimony can be strong.

Seminary has also helped me learn about and strive to be like our Savior, Jesus Christ, as I’ve acted in faith, viewed things from an eternal perspective, and sought further knowledge through appointed sources.

Trust Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Don’t rely only on your own knowledge but on Them. They are able to help us and guide us through any trials or tribulation we may face.
