It was an afternoon, and I remember it like it was yesterday. My mother asked me to sit down and listen because she had something to ask me. She had just received an email requesting me to give a talk at stake conference. When she told me this, I was flustered: I don’t like speaking in front of an audience. I looked at her with wide eyes.

She gave me time to think about it and ask the Lord. She also told me it was a great way to invite my dad, who isn’t a member, to attend our stake conference for the first time. So I thought about it, and my mom and I prayed together.

I agreed to speak at the conference. After that, we fasted and prayed a lot as a family so that the Spirit could inspire me and so that my talk could have an impact in people’s lives, especially my dad’s.

I know that my father was touched that day. When I gave my talk, I looked him straight in the eye so he could see that my words and my faith in God, however big or small, are real.

I know the Savior loves me because He’s always been there for me, especially during this trial. And even if I have doubts, I know He’ll always be there for me. No matter what situation I find myself in, all I have to do is turn to Him with a sincere heart.
