Support Through Lost Opportunities
Last month, I was chosen to go on an exchange program in Germany for two weeks. I was very excited about the opportunity: I prepared my documents and the video to apply for a scholarship, and I told my family about the trip. When everything was ready, the program coordinator announced that the minimum age to participate had changed, and I wasn’t able to go.
Two weeks later, an opportunity came up to go on an exchange to the United States, but the costs were too high, and we couldn’t afford it. A week later, I had the chance to apply for another program, but again, we couldn’t afford it.
I felt useless for not being able to get into any of the programs. Every time I lost an opportunity, another one would appear, and it filled me with hope that I still had a new chance. But in the end, I would also lose that next opportunity.
During that time, I felt like maybe I didn’t deserve those opportunities and that’s why they weren’t working out.
My mom always supported me through those moments. She constantly encouraged me, even though she also had her own struggles. I am deeply grateful for her support and for the peace Heavenly Father gave me.
I know Satan will do everything he can to stop our progress; he wants us to be miserable, just as he is. But we must remain steadfast during the trials of our faith. When we face difficult situations, Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ will always be there.
