What the World Needs

It doesn’t happen nearly often enough, but last night you had a perfectly restful night’s sleep. You woke up energized, optimistic, and ready to tackle a new day full of possibilities.

But then you took a step out into the wide world—and, well, your perfect day started encountering one obstacle after another. There are a lot of problems and contentions flying around out there. And, despite your best efforts, some of that angst is bound to cross your path. How can you survive? More importantly, how can you help solve such a big problem?

With so many instances of unkindness and cruelty in life, from road rage to social media trolling. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ need peacemakers more than ever!

President Russell M. Nelson (1924–2025) invited us to “plead with our Heavenly Father to fill our hearts with greater charity—especially for those who are difficult to love—for charity is a gift from our Heavenly Father for true followers of Jesus Christ.”

Did you catch that last bit? Charity is a gift from Heavenly Father. In other words, even if you struggle sometimes (or a lot) with how you think about or treat others, you can start praying today for the gift of charity.

The world needs every bit of kindness it can get—lucky, then, that it has you.
