Repentance Is About Love
Adapted from “Your Repentance Doesn’t Burden Jesus Christ; It Brightens His Joy,” Liahona, May 2025, 90–92.
President Russell M. Nelson (1924–2025) once said, “The Savior loves us always but especially when we repent.”
So when the Lord says, “Repent ye, repent ye,” what if you imagined Him saying, “I love you. I love you.” And when you repent, you are telling Him you love Him too.
Repentance is our best news! Picture your favorite image of Christ. Now imagine Him smiling brightly with joy each time you use His gift. Your repentance brightens His joy!
Coming unto Christ is like saying, “Will you help me?” You trust His power to help you because you know He loves you.
So try this. Tonight, before you pray, imagine Jesus Christ close by. Ask yourself, “What would Jesus say to Heavenly Father about me?”
And then listen.
Listen for that voice that says good things about you—the voice of Jesus Christ, your best friend, and your Heavenly Father, who is really there. Remember, Their love and your worth are always great, no matter what!
