Walking with the Savior

Bible video still of Jesus Christ walking down a dirt road with two disciples

On the first Easter evening, two disciples walked from Jerusalem on the road to Emmaus. The resurrected Lord appeared and walked with them. But they didn’t recognize Him. They didn’t know He had been resurrected.

They told Him of their sadness that Jesus had died. As they got closer to the village, the disciples said, “Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent” (Luke 24:29).

The Savior accepted their invitation. He took bread, blessed it, broke it, and gave it to them. The disciples realized who He was. Then He was gone.

The two disciples rushed back to Jerusalem to tell the Apostles what happened. As they were sharing their experience, the Savior appeared again. He said, “Peace be unto you” (Luke 24:36).

I am a witness of the Resurrection of the Lord as surely as if I had been there with the two disciples in the house on Emmaus road. I know that He lives.
