Types of Tiredness General Conference Can Help You With

No matter what type of tired you are, the Savior is your key to rest and relief.

If I had to take a wild guess at something we have in common, it would likely be “feeling tired.”

As exciting as this time of life is, young adulthood can also be exhausting. Physically. Mentally. Emotionally. Spiritually. Probably some other “-ally”s.

If that’s a truth you’re feeling deep in your young-but-aching bones right now, here’s a bit of relief from the October 2025 general conference.

Tired of Trials?

Trials. Challenges. Banes of your existence. Whatever you choose to call them, life is not short on difficult experiences. President Henry B. Eyring, First Counselor in the First Presidency, offered this comforting piece of counsel for those of us facing hard moments:

“I bear witness that these moments are not evidence that the Lord has abandoned you. Rather, they are evidence that He loves you enough to refine and strengthen you. He is making you strong enough to carry the weight of eternal life.

“If we remain faithful in our service, the Lord will refine us. He will strengthen us. And one day we will look back and see that those very trials were evidence of His love. We will see that He was shaping us to be able to stand with Him in glory.”

Tired of a Scary World?

Living in the last days includes living among some scary world events. Elder Gary E. Stevenson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles raised this question:

“‘Can I truly become a peacemaker when the world is in commotion, my heart is filled with fear, and peace seems so far away?’”

His answer points us to the Savior and invites us to find peace.

“The resounding response is once again yes! We embrace the words of the Savior: ‘Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you. … Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid’ [John 14:27].

“Today, peacemaking still begins in the most basic place—in our hearts. Then in homes and families. As we practice there, peacemaking will spread into our neighborhoods and communities.”

Tired of Failure?

Failing, especially when it feels like you’re failing repeatedly, can really tank your energy levels and tire you out. Elder Patrick Kearon of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles extended this hopeful encouragement:

“The adversary is the only one who benefits from the idea that you’re sunk. You are not.

“… You can actually change things about yourself that have been wearing you down for years. You can start again through the might of the Master of new beginnings. He never tires of giving new beginnings to us.

“To those who are struggling with the same sin or the same setback over and over again, you keep going. [Jesus Christ] hasn’t put a roadblock in front of you. He hasn’t set a limit on your second chances. You press on. You keep striving. You seek help from those around you. And you trust in the new beginning that is there for you every time you turn back to your Father in sincerity of heart.”

Tired from Serving?

Whether you’re tired from hitting a rough point on your mission, juggling three callings in your branch, or worrying over a neglected ministering assignment, this advice about simplicity in the Savior from Elder Michael Cziesla of the Seventy might be for you:

“Applying the simplicity that is in Christ makes us prioritize people over processes and eternal relationships over short-term behaviors. We focus on ‘the things that matter most’ in God’s work of salvation and exaltation instead of getting caught up in managing our ministering. We make ourselves free to prioritize the things we can do rather than being weighed down by the things we cannot do. The Lord reminded us: ‘Wherefore, be not weary in well-doing, for ye are laying the foundation of a great work. And out of small things proceedeth that which is great’ [Doctrine and Covenants 64:33].”

If You’re Just Plain Tired

You might have noticed that all these tiredness antidotes have one thing in common: Jesus Christ. In His own words (words quoted twice during this conference), Jesus said:

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

“Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; … and ye shall find rest unto your souls” (Matthew 11:28–29).

No matter what type of tired you are, the Savior is your key to rest and relief. So seek the Savior. Let Him heal your tired heart. There is no better rest than His.
