Easter Shows Our True Worth in Christ

At Easter we celebrate the fact that because of Christ, we can change. When we repent, we show Him that we want to change.

I used to be really discouraged by my sins and mistakes. I would pray and then make the same mistake again. I felt lost. I thought, “Am I even worthy to repent?” But then I listened to Sister Tamara W. Runia’s talk “Repentance Doesn’t Burden Jesus Christ—It Brightens His Joy!” Her talk was the answer I needed. When we are at low points in our life, Christ lifts us up and encourages us. Repentance is the best way forward.

Jesus Christ came to earth to pay the price for us. By repenting and following His example, we learn how we can do better in the future.

During Easter, we celebrate Christ’s victory. Because of His sacrifice, we don’t have to feel discouraged. We can come closer to Him, and by repenting, we can prepare for His Second Coming. In my country, we do activities that help us remember just how important Easter is. Everyone brings food and we share scriptures and our testimonies with each other. We sing special hymns about Christ’s Resurrection. That is the highlight of Easter for me.

I love the scripture Doctrine and Covenants 93:1: “Verily, thus saith the Lord: It shall come to pass that every soul who forsaketh his sins and cometh unto me, and calleth on my name, and obeyeth my voice, and keepeth my commandments, shall see my face and know that I am.” When we repent, Christ is giving us an opportunity! During Easter, we can feel His love for us and know that we are always worth it to Him.
