My grandfather died around the time I received the Melchizedek Priesthood. My grandfather had always been there for me, and on that day, my grandfather couldn’t be there in the circle—for the first time in my whole life, on a day that was special for me.
But during the ordinance, I really felt the Spirit. I felt love from my father and the other people there, as well as from my grandfather. I felt grateful for their testimonies. It was a really special day and an emotional moment for me personally.
To have a connection between me and the Holy Ghost, I need to let Him in. One thing I try to do is to read one chapter of the Book of Mormon every day.
There were times when I focused more on school or on work than on reading the scriptures or going to seminary. Those times were really hard. But every single time, I started reading the scriptures again. I told myself, “Come on, you have to keep going.” I have to, because if I don’t read the scriptures, I feel like something is missing.
In Austria, holidays from school are from the beginning of July until the first week of September, and during this time, you don’t go to seminary. But FSY reminded me to read the scriptures. You can read every single day, even just one verse or one chapter.
Just give time for God and for Jesus Christ. You’ll learn about Them in the scriptures. If you struggle with reading, just take 10 minutes a day, even in a break in school or something, and you will be blessed.
Reading the scriptures has definitely changed me.
