His Story

The Coat

Joseph was the favorite child of His father, Jacob. Jacob made him a special coat. Joseph’s brothers were envious. (It didn’t help that Joseph had dreams inspired by God that he would rule over them someday.)

The Betrayal

Joseph’s brothers sold him to people going to Egypt and told Jacob that Joseph had died. In Egypt, Joseph was a slave and was cast into prison for a crime he didn’t commit. He was always faithful to God, and the Lord was with him and blessed him.

The Famine

Eventually, Joseph interpreted Pharoah’s dream and gave him advice to prepare for a coming famine. Pharoah made Joseph a ruler in Egypt. Soon, his brothers came to Egypt to buy grain. They didn’t realize they were asking for help from the brother they had sold!

The Deliverance

Joseph eventually revealed himself to his brothers and offered them food and shelter in Egypt. He forgave them and saved his family. These same brothers became the 12 Tribes of Israel.

Your Story

Like Joseph, you may have days when you feel betrayed or hurt. Other people’s actions can have big consequences. But as you are faithful to God and try to forgive others, you’ll be strengthened and blessed.
