Our Beautiful World

Adapted from “Our Earthly Stewardship,” Liahona, Nov. 2022, 57–59.

Picture made with torn paper of garden with bridge and a pond

My wife and I took a few of our grandchildren to a magnificent garden in France. We admired the beautiful flower beds, water lilies, and ponds.

The garden used to belong to a man named Claude Monet. He was a great painter. He carefully worked on his garden for 40 years. He created hundreds of paintings that were inspired by his garden.

The beauties of nature can help us have gratitude for our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. They created this beautiful earth with mountains, streams, plants, and animals.

These wonderful creations show how much God loves us. However, they also come with duties and responsibilities. This is called a stewardship. We need to take care of the things that God has created for us.

Our Heavenly Father also invites us to join in His creative work. We can create art, music, and other things to brighten our lives and bless others.

God promises great blessings when we love and care for the earth and each other. As you do, you will feel His love more in your life.

Torn-Paper Art

Bishop Caussé taught that we can become creators too! Here’s a craft you can make to remind you of Heavenly Father’s beautiful creations.

  1. Find a picture of something in nature that inspires you.

  2. On a piece of paper, use a pencil to draw different parts of the picture.

  3. Tear colored paper to use in your picture.

  4. Glue the colored pieces of paper inside your outline.
