My Gospel Words

Fasting is when we go without food or water for a time. We make this sacrifice to feel closer to Heavenly Father and ask for blessings. We start and end our fast with a prayer.

The word Sabbath means “a time for rest,” and holy means “dedicated to God.” We make the Sabbath day holy and special by going to church, resting from our usual work, and focusing on Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

Temptation is when we are influenced to do something that is wrong or goes against God’s commandments. We are on earth to learn to overcome temptation and to choose the right with help from Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

Zion can be any place where people live the gospel and help each other. Building Zion means including others, living the gospel, and caring for one another.
