New 2025 Youth Album Helps Youth Look Unto Christ

Beloved youth of the Philippines Area, you are invited to “look unto Christ” this 2025!

Throughout the year, Church members aged 11–18 years old are encouraged to set their gaze upon the Lord Jesus Christ by focusing on the theme, which is based on Doctrine and Covenants 6:36: “Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not.” To help youth, parents, and Church leaders learn, teach, and apply principles from the theme, the Philippines Area is launching several songs in a special youth-oriented album.

Also, to follow the Lord’s command that all people, including the youth, “shall hear the fulness of the gospel in [their] own tongue, and in [their] own language” (see Doctrine and Covenants 90:11), the songs are rendered in different languages by talented, up-and- coming Latter-day Saint artists. The rising generation will be able to hear faith-promoting messages in English, Tagalog, Cebuano, and Bicolano.

This year’s theme song comes in two versions: “Look Unto Christ” (English acoustic version) by returned missionary and accountancy student Noreen Mae Nivera and “Asahan Siya” (“Look Unto Christ” Tagalog version) by teen celebrity Xia Vigor. Church members can look forward to listening and downloading these songs as they are being uploaded in the Gospel Library/ Sacred Music app or the official Church website.

“This is a song that reminds us how the Lord’s love is perfect,” shares Noreen, “that even though we feel that we are fainting and sinking, as we look unto Him, we would feel the strength to live again and go back from where we once were.” She also told herself “that this song was actually for me, I needed it and I knew I should act upon it, so I surrendered all my worries, fears, and doubts to Him, and I felt this heartwarming peace and assurance in my heart.”

After hearing “Look Unto Christ” for the first time, Xia reveals that “it touched my heart instantly and it became my new favorite church song. It’s an honor to sing the official Tagalog translation of the song.” The well-known actress adds that she especially like that first part “when it says if we stay in the Savior’s side that He is the light— just what we all need nowadays, the assurance that there is indeed a bright light in the midst of darkness.”

Also included in the roster of performers is K-pop idol Chantal “Chanty” Videla, who sings “Carry Me” (Taglish version), and who’s joined by Althea Atienza, Ryzza Rome Calcetas, Naomi Tino, Maeden Olive Garcia, Kiersten Melanie Nivera, and P-pop artist Yzabel Divinagracia. “The song specifically talks about asking the Lord, our Savior, to carry us, and I feel like everybody will relate to it,” shares Chantal, who also says that “I relate to it personally.”

Other songs to be released in the youth album are: “Daughter of Light” (Tagalog version) by Kaelyn Papa; “His Work” (Trilingual version in Tagalog and Bicolano) by Adrian Pramoso; “I Need Your Strength” (Tagalog, and Cebuano) by Brandon Kyle Sorilla and Reilan Abasanta; “Fear Not” (Taglish) by Natalie Ruth Villasis; and “Doubt Not” (Tagalog Acoustic) by Noah Yuvienco.

To express his testimony musically and in his native tongue is a dream come true for Adrian, who hails from the Bicol Region. A returned missionary, Brother Pramoso was part of Ligao National High School Voice Chorale, three-time recipient of the Ani ng Dangal Awards of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) for their international grand prix championships in Indonesia, South Korea, and Spain.

“I know that He is the only one who can heal our wounded heart, he is the answer to our pleadings,” Noreen hopes that the rising generation will feel as they listen to “Look Unto Christ” and the other songs in the 2025 youth album. “He will help us walk through this path as long as we continually look unto Him.”
