Learn about traditions from different countries to help you remember the Savior.
Armenia
Here, Easter eggs are dyed red like Jesus Christ’s blood. On Easter, people say, “Christ is risen from the dead! Blessed is the Resurrection of Christ!” Then they crack their eggs together.
Ghana
Many people wear white on Easter Sunday as a celebration of Jesus Christ’s Resurrection and victory over death.
Guatemala
At Easter time, people cover the streets with colorful carpets made from dyed sawdust and flowers. These carpets have beautiful patterns and designs. Some have pictures of the Savior.
Germany
Good Friday is a “silent holiday” with legal restrictions on loud noises and public events. This allows people to be still and reflect on what Jesus Christ has done for them.
Peru
Many families have a feast with 12 dishes of food on the Thursday or Friday before Easter. This meal represents the Last Supper that Jesus Christ ate with the Twelve Apostles.
Philippines
On Palm Sunday, people weave palm leaves into beautiful designs. This helps them remember how the people in Jerusalem welcomed Jesus Christ with palm leaves during Holy Week.
