Margo & Paulo

New Traditions

Margo, Paulo, Grandma, and baby Lucas at the grocery store. Wrapped chocolate eggs hang from the ceiling.

YAY! They finally have Easter eggs! Can I get one? Pleeeeease?

Not today. You’ll get one on Easter.

I want to try some new Easter traditions this year.

Oh? Like what?

Paulo holds up an orange. In the background, Margo tries to jump up and grab a hanging chocolate egg.

Our friend Julia said that before Easter, she fasts for 40 days, like Jesus did.

Margo looks over her shoulder, eyes wide in shock

She doesn’t eat for 40 DAYS?

Margo looks horrified while Grandma explains

She probably just gives up something she enjoys—like video games, or chocolate.

What? No CHOCOLATE?

Some people make a sacrifice like this to remember Jesus at Easter.

Margo looks worried as Grandma continues to push the shopping cart. Baby Lucas reaches for something on the shelf.

Do I have to give up chocolate too?

There are lots of other ways to remember the Savior at Easter time.

Paulo raises his finger like he has an idea. He and Margo both look excited.

Ooh! Remember our Easter in the Netherlands?

Oh yeah! The bonfire reminded us that Jesus Christ’s light overcomes the darkness.

I bet our friends around the world have lots of great traditions. Let’s write to them!

We should probably also send them some chocolate.

Margo dumps the eggs into Grandma’s shopping cart

Those are too big to send.

Oops! Guess we’ll have to eat them, then!

Grandma holds up one of the eggs while Margo grins sheepishly

Margo …

You can have one.
