Introduction to the Old Testament
The Old Testament Teaches about Jesus Christ

Scripture: Isaiah 9:6
Activity: We can learn about Jesus Christ as we read the Old Testament. Go to page 49 to do a scripture hunt activity together. Or pick one of the scriptures to read together.
January 5–11
All Children of God
Song: “I Am a Child of God” (Children’s Songbook, 2)
Scripture: Moses 1:4
Activity: God told Moses, “Thou art my son” (Moses 1:4). We are all children of Heavenly Father! Think of someone who needs a reminder that they are a child of God. Sing or play for them the song “I Am a Child of God” (Children’s Songbook, 2).
January 12–18
Genesis 1–2; Moses 2–3; Abraham 4–5
Jesus Christ Created the Earth
Song: “My Heavenly Father Loves Me” (Children’s Songbook, 228)
Scripture: Moses 2:1
Activity: Under the direction of Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ created the earth (see Moses 2:1). What beautiful creations are you grateful for? Do the earth craft on the next page! You can trace extra copies for your family. Cut them out and hang them somewhere to remind you that God created the earth for you because He loves you.
Creating the Earth
Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ created the heavens and earth and everything in them. Use crayons, finger paint, or ripped pieces of paper to color in the land and seas on the earth.
January 19–25
Making Good Choices
Song: “Choose the Right Way” (Children’s Songbook, 160)
Scripture: Moses 4:3
Activity: God gave us the gift of agency (see Moses 4:3). Agency is the power to make choices. You can make good choices by following Jesus Christ and serving others. Serve someone with your family. Then trace and cut out a handprint, write about what you did, and send it to the Friend! Learn more on page 13.
