Lonely Moon

The moon last night was big and full

And silent in the autumn sky.

It blotted out the little stars;

No clouds came trailing by.

I watch it. All alone it seemed.

Alone—just sleeping earth in view.

I wished the moon knew I was there,

For I’ve been lonely too.
