Centipede
July 1990

“Centipede,” Friend, July 1990, 19

Centipede

By Susan Baumlin

Prodding, plodding,

Very lowly,

Bending his body,

Stepping slowly.

Dancing, prancing—

Oh, what legs!—

Thin like needles,

Long like pegs!

Worming, squirming

Round a mound,

On he creeps

Upon the ground.

Finding, winding

Near the trees—

Just imagine

What he sees!
