President Dallin H. Oaks has said, “It is vital for Latter-day Saints to not lose their understanding of the purpose of marriage and the value of children. That is the future for which we strive.”

There was a time when we moved far away from our families, and we were in a different country. And so then family took on a bigger meaning. We had each other, but we found out that we had a bigger family too wherever we lived because we always had a ward or a branch or stake or a district of members who had the same ideals and had the same faith. The members of this Church all over the world.

The 900,000 in the last three years that have joined this Church, they might feel like, “How can I ever have the kind of family that we talk about this in the Church of Jesus Christ?” But I’m here to tell all of the sisters throughout the world, it is because of Jesus Christ. It is because of this, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints—the covenants that we make—that we all have the opportunity to have a family. The kind of family that you dream about. The kind of family that works together, helps each other, loves each other. I witness that this is possible, that we can have joy, family joy. I know this is true, and I know it is true for you.
