Relief in Jesus Christ

Welcome, dear sisters, to this celebration of the establishment and work of Relief Society.

This grand painting by Michael Malm beautifully depicts women and men, children and young people—of various race, ethnicity, and time—coming to our Savior, Jesus Christ. This is the work of the Relief Society: to strengthen discipleship in Jesus Christ and prepare to the return to the presence of our heavenly parents.

You are our sisters. And we are yours.

At the beginning of this devotional, you were introduced to the Relief Society General Advisory Council. They are called and set apart to advise and counsel with us in leading the sisters of the Relief Society. Just like you, they are women of great faith—especially as they face the complexities and challenges of this mortal life. This year, you have the opportunity to be inspired by them in the discussion videos released with this broadcast.

All over the world, more than eight million women belong to the Relief Society. By providing and receiving relief, both temporal and spiritual, we draw closer to Jesus Christ and become more like Him.

We pray that the Spirit will be present with you as you listen to our messages. We prepared them with you in mind. And then we will be privileged to hear from Elder Quentin L. Cook, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. We love you, dear women in the gospel of Jesus Christ. You are our sisters.
