A creek winds through a dense forest.
在柴平森林保護區內，嘉德蘭聖殿以南約三公里處有一座採石場，人們曾在此切割石材，用於建造當地的幾座建築，嘉德蘭聖殿是其中之一。1830年代，工人們以手工在岩石上鑽孔，利用楔子將當地的砂岩切開。有一小段時間，約瑟·斯密曾親自監督工人為聖殿開採石材。

今日，訪客可以在柴平森林保護區內沿著石匠步道（Stonecutters Loop Trail）散步。這條步道通往一座橋，橋上可俯瞰採石場的池塘，訪客可看到當年從溪床中切割石灰岩時所留下鑽孔的痕跡。這條步道相當好走，全長僅0.19公里，地勢平坦，路面整理良好。步道起點及沿途皆設有解說牌，介紹該景點歷史及其對當地社區的重要性。

石匠步道（Stonecutters Loop Trail）是一條維護良好的小徑，在森林步道沿途均設有解說牌。這是一條短而輕鬆的環狀步道，也是自由參觀行程。
