God Loves You. How Can You Love Him?

God loves you perfectly and forever. “Think of the purest, most all-consuming love you can imagine. Now multiply that love by an infinite amount—that is the measure of God’s love for you.”

Some people think that because God loves them, they can do whatever they want, without consequences. But this doesn’t make much sense. God gives commandments out of love, for your own good. Because God loves you, you should keep His commandments. And you should also keep His commandments because you love Him!

“Will you not love Him who first loved you? Then keep His commandments. Will you not be a friend to Him who laid down His life for His friends? Then keep His commandments. Will you not abide in His love and receive all that He graciously offers you? Then keep His commandments.”

The For the Strength of Youth guide sums it up: “To help you make good choices, God gives commandments. He does this because He loves you. And the best reason to obey God’s commandments is because you love Him. Love is at the heart of God’s commandments.”
