For God So Loved the World

Heavenly Father loves us all so much that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to help us return to Him.

Jesus knew there would be times in our lives when we would feel sadness, pain, and loneliness. We would make mistakes and even be afraid sometimes. In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus Christ chose to feel all those things so He could understand and help us perfectly. He also paid for our sins so we could repent. (See Alma 7:11–13.)

Jesus also knew that when the time came, we would all die. Death is a natural and normal part of life. But God didn’t want death to be the end of our story. Because Jesus Christ gave His life and was resurrected, we will all live again too. That is why He chose to die for us.

We call what the Savior did the Atonement of Jesus Christ. This sacred gift was done for us with love. Remember, God so loved the world that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ (see John 3:16). And Jesus so loved us that He gave His life so we could return to live with God again.
