A Chat with Azahara about the Temple

Azahara is an 11-year-old from Spain. We asked her some questions about her first time going to the temple.

Tell us about yourself.

Why is the temple important to you?

The temple has been a great blessing to me, even before I was old enough to go inside. Just by looking at it from the outside, I could feel Heavenly Father’s love.

The temple is also important to my family. My parents say that when they are at the temple, they feel like they have come home. They say it is a place where they can feel close to family members who have passed away. It is also a place where we can help gather Israel.

How did you prepare to go to the temple?

Girl reading the scriptures

I prepared by trying to follow Jesus Christ’s example. I read the scriptures, prayed, and went to church. I am not 100 percent perfect, but with Heavenly Father’s help, I can be worthy.

What was it like when you did temple baptisms for the first time?

Going to the temple for the first time was one of the most wonderful things I have done in my life. I felt Heavenly Father’s love the whole time. I went with my family and some of the youth from my ward. My dad baptized me for some of my ancestors. I liked knowing that I was helping them with something they were not able to do themselves.

What advice would you give to other kids who are preparing for the temple?

One piece of advice I’d give is to read the scriptures. When we learn about Jesus Christ and become better disciples, we will enjoy entering the temple more.

When you do temple baptisms for the first time, enjoy every second of it! Write about your experience in a journal so you’ll never forget it.
