Passing Notice

By S. H. Dewhurst

Grieve not for summer’s going—

Her time was filled to overflowing

With Nature’s bounty. Life for her

Was neither vague nor gossamer,

So let there be no sorrow now

As she deserts the weary bough

To join the flight of the golden leaf;

She, herself, knows not of grief.
