FSY Conferences Speaker/Teacher Outline - Jesus Christ Is Our Strength
Overview
Help youth understand how Jesus Christ can strengthen them and teach them ways to apply this in their daily lives. Use the principles taught in For the Strength of Youth: A Guide for Making Choices to deepen their understanding of this eternal truth.
This outline can be used for both a pre-FSY conference activity or a post-FSY conference activity. If used as a pre- activity, the focus should be on helping youth to prepare for their FSY experience. If used as a post-activity, youth should be asked to reflect on their FSY experience and identify how that experience can help them continue to grow.
Note: This lesson outline is a tool. There is more content here than is likely to be used. Follow inspiration to address the needs of youth in your area.
I. Savior’s Love for Us
The Savior loves you and knows you personally. He cares about you, your experiences, and wants you to be happy and return to Him and our Heavenly Father. Because of Christ’s Atonement, He knows your pains and heartaches, He knows the difficulties you face, and He knows your strengths and your weaknesses. He knows and loves you perfectly. He is there to help you through all of your challenges, struggles, and difficulties.
Pre-FSY Conference Activity
Invite the youth to consider, share, and discuss the following:
- What things about Christ and His love do you hope to learn about at FSY?
- In what way can the love of the Savior help you resolve concerns or doubts you may be experiencing about attending FSY?
- What are specific actions you can take now to be best prepared spiritually for FSY?
Post-FSY Conference Activity
Invite the youth to consider, share, and discuss the following:
- Because of your experiences at FSY, what do you now know about Christ?
- In what ways did you come to know the Savior better because of your experience at FSY?
- What specific things did you learn about our Savior's love at FSY? How do you see that helping you through this next year?
- How was the Savior part of your week during the activities at FSY? How did that make you feel?
- What are specific actions you will be adopting into your life because of your time at FSY?

II. Savior’s Love for Others
Just as the Savior loves us perfectly, He also loves all those around us and is the perfect example of treating everyone with love and kindness. He can help us to see others as He does. We should learn from His example and treat others as He would. This both shows our love for Him and helps others feel His love through us.
Pre-FSY Conference Activity
Invite the youth to consider, share, and discuss the following:
- What does the Savior's love look like in action?
- When is a time you've seen or felt the Savior's love in your life or in the life of someone you love?
- List ways you can show Christlike love to others.
- What specific actions can you take to share more Christlike love?
- How can you prepare to share Christlike love for others at FSY?
Post-FSY Conference Activity
Invite the youth to consider, share, and discuss the following:
- What specific examples of the Savior's love did you either see or experience while at FSY?
- In what situations did you see others treated with the love and kindness the Savior has taught us to share?
- In what ways were you personally touched by another's act of love or kindness?
- What are specific actions you will take to emulate the Savior's love and kindness to others in your life?

III. Overcoming Weakness
Having weakness is part of being human. Even when we try our best, we all make mistakes and fall short. It can be easy for this to make us feel overwhelmed or discouraged; however, Jesus Christ gives us the strength and support to try again and again. Through His Atonement, He took upon Himself your sins so that you can repent and keep progressing. He is also there to help you overcome your weaknesses and continue to grow and improve as you strive to become more like Him.
Pre-FSY Conference Activity
Invite the youth to consider, share, and discuss the following:
- Describe a time when Christ gave you strength to overcome a weakness or make it through a difficult situation.
- What life challenges are presenting themselves right now?
- What goals are you trying to achieve?
- What specific actions can you take to receive guidance and help from Christ at FSY?
Post-FSY Conference Activity
Invite the youth to consider, share, and discuss the following:
- Describe the progress you've made on your personal goals you set at FSY.
- In what ways can Christ assist you with those goals?
- If you have completed those goals, what new goals do you want to set?
- If you haven’t completed those goals, what can you change to better achieve those goals?
- What are other ways you can access Christ's grace and atoning power daily?

IV. Divine Potential
President Nelson has stated that our most important identity is that each and every one of us is a child of God (“The Prophet Says Now Is When We Choose How We Will Live Forever,” Newsroom, May 2022). As such, we each have an infinite divine potential. This knowledge helps us have an eternal perspective and better understand our limitless worth and the worth of everyone around us.
Pre-FSY Conference Activity
Invite the youth to consider, share, and discuss the following:
- In your own words, what is divine nature, divine identity, or divine potential?
- Which of these three would you like to learn more about?
- What specific actions can you take to prepare to learn more about your divinity during FSY?
Post-FSY Conference Activity
Invite the youth to consider, share, and discuss the following:
- Complete this statement, "Being a child of God means _______."
- In what ways does a knowledge of your divine nature impact your perspective?
- Describe how knowing you have a divine identity influences your thoughts and actions.
