Autumn Afternoon

The thick foliage

crawled over the hills,

its coarse blanket

wrapping itself

around the thin shoulders

of Mother Nature,

this old widow,

weathered

painfully

like fallen leaves,

soon to be

blown away

by a

crisp

November wind.
