Jeremiah 31–33; 36-38; Lamentations 1; 3

Jeremiah 31–33; 36–38; Lamentations 1; 3

Overview

Jeremiah prophesied in Jerusalem before and during the Babylonian captivity. He warned the Jews that if they did not repent, their city would be attacked, and they would be taken captive. The kings and people of Jerusalem did not hearken to Jeremiah and were destroyed. Jeremiah also taught his people about the Lord’s love and how He would gather His people in the last days. As part of the gathering, the Lord promised to write His law in the hearts of His followers. After Jerusalem was destroyed, Jeremiah wrote a lament for his people, reminding them of the Lord’s compassion and that they were not cast off forever.

seminary icon Always be ready to respond to spiritual promptings about the needs of learners. As you seek to teach by the Spirit, look for ways to respond to and focus on your students’ needs, questions, and interests and not just on the material you have prepared. Doing so can invite the Spirit to help you respond to your students’ circumstances. To learn more about how the Savior responded to the needs of others, see “The Savior Was Always Ready to Respond to the Needs of Others” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way [2022], 17). For an example of how you can respond to spiritual promptings about the needs of learners, see Lesson 135: “Jeremiah 36.”
