The Seminary Invitation

The transition from middle school to high school was pretty scary for me. On top of that, I was also starting seminary. In our stake, we have seminary in the evening, so right after school I go straight to seminary. This schedule is often tiring because I have a lot more homework now that I’m in high school. Still, even though I don’t have as much time as I used to, I’m thankful that my time is going toward something that’s good for me.

In seminary, our teacher taught us how Enos prayed for hours, talking to the Lord. He invited us to have similar faith and pray for 30 minutes after seminary that day. I took the challenge and prayed. My teacher had told us to pray like we were having a full conversation with Heavenly Father. I tried to really connect with Him and thank Him for the blessings in my life. The 30 minutes started out slowly, but it felt fast toward the end. Going to seminary, studying the scriptures, and learning more about the gospel are really strengthening my relationship with Heavenly Father.

Even though some things in life are scary—like starting seminary or going to a new school—I’ve learned to trust Heavenly Father and His plan. One of my favorite scriptures that I’ve learned in seminary is Ether 12:6, which says, “Faith is things which are hoped for and not seen.” We don’t need to see to have faith.

When things are hard or confusing, pray and ask Heavenly Father for guidance to know what to do and strength to keep on pushing. Don’t give up. You can do it!
