Bedtime Shadow Friends

By Clare Miseles

I first say my prayers,

Thanking God for the day,

Then ask shadow friends

To come out and play.

I position my hands

And my fingers with care—

And right on the wall,

A camel is there!

Next comes a fat duck,

A dog’s face, a deer,

And a cute fuzzy bunny

With only one ear.

Then Mother comes in.

She says, “No more play.”

So my shadow friends all

Go quickly away!
