Annual Church Music Submission Update

The annual Church Music Submission was established to encourage the development of musical talent and bring new musical works to light. We sincerely thank all who have submitted music over the years. Your contributions have blessed members of the Church worldwide and influenced hymn and song selections for the hymnbook.

To support ongoing hymnbook efforts, submissions will be temporarily paused starting November 2, 2025. Submissions are expected to reopen in the future, and updates will be shared when timing allows.

Awarded submissions that are not yet in the online music library are in our publication process and will be added as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience as these works are prepared for release.

In the meantime, updates to the casting page—including requests for new music and arrangements—will be shared through an email list. Click here to be added and receive notifications when new opportunities become available.

Why do I need to sign an agreement if I receive an award?

The Creative Works Unlimited License—Limited Sublicensing agreement, used for submitted music, grants the Church permission to publish your work for noncommercial use and to include it in livestreamed performances at Temple Square. The agreement also allows others to print your work from Church websites for noncommercial use. If your submission is your original work, you still own your work (including sublicensing rights) when you sign this agreement. If your submission is an arrangement of someone else’s work, the rights to the arrangement are dependent on the agreement you obtained with the original creator

When and how will I find out if I received an award?

All submission participants will be emailed submission results by March 1.

What happens to the submitted music?

Award-winning music may be published on the Church’s music website. All submissions will be retained electronically for reference purposes only and accessible only to submitters and select Church music staff.

Will my music be performed?

Award-winning music may be presented and livestreamed in Church Music Festival performances at Temple Square.
