The painting in an interior scene of a log home. At the center is a young man with dark blonde hair seated in bed. He wears a off-white nightshirt open at the neck. The young man is holding the covers over his lap. The bed clothes consist of white sheets and an off-white quilt with small squares (green, yellow andpink) on the top, the underside of the quilt is brown. The young man is looking up at a figure to his left, it is a man with white hair and a beard- wearing a long white tunic belted at the waist. His back is to the viewer. The man had both arms raised to just above his waist (arms bent at the elbows. The figure seems to eminate light of some kind, that illuminates the whole room. The background of the painting shows a log building with a peaked roof, a small ledge just behind the pine bed, that a candle sits on. In the foreground at the right corner is a chair with a rush set. Some sort of the clothing has been draped over the back. Next to the young man is a young boy sleeping with his hand raised above his head.
