Alma the Younger asks Nephihah to be the chief judge so Alma can teach the people to let go of their pride. Alma teaches the people to have faith in Jesus Christ, to repent, and to be baptized.

Many people in God’s Church have become prideful. Alma the Younger steps down as the chief judge to preach faith in Jesus Christ and repentance to the people. Nephihah takes Alma's place as the chief judge.

Alma the Younger teaches the people to keep the commandments. They repent and experience a mighty change of heart. Some who did not belong to the Church believe, have faith in Jesus Christ, and are baptized.

Alma the Younger teaches the people in Gideon. He prophesies of Jesus Christ, who will come into the world to redeem His people. Alma tells the people to repent and be born again to gain salvation.
