Alma the Younger wakes up and tells his family that the Savior, Jesus Christ, has taken away his sins. He has been born again. Alma the Younger begins to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and share his experience.

Alma becomes the leader of the Church. His son Alma the Younger and the sons of Mosiah persecute the followers of Christ. An angel appears to them and calls them to repentance. They repent and try to repair the evil they did.

Chapter 18: Alma the Younger Repents

Many people in God’s Church have become prideful. Alma the Younger steps down as the chief judge to preach faith in Jesus Christ and repentance to the people. Nephihah takes Alma's place as the chief judge.

Alma the Younger becomes the first chief judge. A wicked man named Nehor leads many away with his lies and kills Gideon. Nehor is put to death, but many still believe his words. Those who continue to follow God and care for the poor are blessed.

The people in Ammonihah deny God. They throw Alma the younger out of their city. An angel commands Alma the younger to return and preach the word of God in Ammonihah

Amulek teaches a man named Zeezrom and tells him why the Savior will come to earth. Jesus Christ’s Resurrection will make it possible for everyone to have an immortal body. Zeezrom believes and repents.

Alma the younger teaches Zeezrom about the resurrection of the dead. He warns Zeezrom to repent and have faith in Jesus Christ. Zeezrom believes the teachings of Alma and Amulek and repents.

Alma steps down as chief judge to spread the gospel. Alma finds Amulek, and they preach together. Zeezrom tries to confound them but is unable to do so. Zeezrom and others repent and are baptized. The believers are persecuted.

Chapter 22: Alma’s Mission to Ammonihah

Zeezrom escapes from the leaders of Ammonihah and becomes very sick. Zeezrom thinks Alma the younger and Amulek have died because of his wickedness. Alma and Amulek heal Zeezrom, and he is baptized.
