Things to See and Do as a Family

While everyone is welcome everywhere at the Ohio Historic Sites, younger audiences might be especially interested in the following places and activities:

Historic Site
The Kirtland Schoolhouse can be an exciting place for kids to learn about what school was like for children their age in the 19th century.
Visitors’ Center
The Kirtland Temple Visitors’ Center teaches people of all ages about the Kirtland Temple.
Visitors’ Center
The Historic Kirtland Visitors’ Center teaches people of all ages about Historic Kirtland.
Historic Site
The Johnson Inn has exhibits and interactive activities that teach about Historic Kirtland.

Common Questions

There are baby-changing tables in most of the restrooms at the historic sites. If you’re unable to locate a baby-changing table, please ask a missionary for assistance. 
There are no family restrooms available at the historic sites. All visitors’ centers have standard male and female restrooms, and most restrooms outside of visitors’ centers are individual restrooms allowing for more privacy.
You are welcome to breastfeed anywhere at the historic sites where you feel comfortable. If you’d like more privacy, please speak to a missionary, who can direct you to a secluded room.
Strollers are allowed in historic buildings. Please be aware that some of the buildings might be difficult to navigate with a stroller. Many of the buildings also have steps into the entrance, so you will need to be able to get the stroller over the threshold.
Stroller parking is available at all visitors’ centers. Please ask a missionary to direct you to the designated area.
