Glad Tidings from Cumorah

“And again, what do we hear? Glad tidings from Cumorah! Moroni, an angel from heaven, declaring the fulfilment of the prophets—the book to be revealed.”
Doctrine and Covenants 128:20

THE BOOK OF MORMON
Another Testament of Jesus Christ

The “book to be revealed”—containing the “glad tidings from Cumorah” that Moroni buried in this hill—was translated by the Prophet Joseph Smith and published as the Book of Mormon in 1830.

An Ancient Witness of Jesus Christ

Soon after His Resurrection, Jesus Christ appeared on the American continent. He visited with the people, inviting them to come forward and have individual, tangible interactions with Him. The people saw and bore witness for themselves. That witness, recorded in the Book of Mormon, has resounded around the world. As you read, listen to, and ponder these events, we hope you too can feel a personal connection with the Savior Jesus Christ.

The Story at the Hill Cumorah

Around 400 years after Christ came to the Americas, under Christ’s direction, a prophet named Moroni buried the record in the Hill Cumorah for safekeeping. Later, Moroni would return to earth as a resurrected being and lead Joseph Smith to the record. Joseph would later translate and publish the record as the Book of Mormon.
