As you prepare to travel to Historic Nauvoo, keep in mind that it is a small town in a rural area. There are no direct travel routes to Nauvoo, and it is not close to any major city centers. No matter what form of transportation you choose, additional driving from another city will be required.
There are multiple airports you can fly to that are within varying distances from Nauvoo. They are listed below from nearest to farthest.
Select flights from these larger airports connect with smaller, regional airports in Quincy, Illinois, or Burlington, Iowa, both of which are within an hour’s drive from Nauvoo.
If you are coming to Nauvoo with an RV, day parking is available at the Historic Nauvoo Visitors’ Center in the West Parking Lot. However, overnight parking is not permitted on-site. Options for overnight camping can be found here.

Please be aware that the city of Nauvoo classifies RVs of 30 feet or longer as buses and requires that they use the same designated routes and parking areas as tour buses. You can download a map of these designated routes on the Nauvoo City Website.

Parking

Parking is available throughout Nauvoo. Two large lots are available at the Historic Nauvoo Visitors’ Center. There are also large parking lots north of the Family Living Center (Pioneer Life Parking), at the far west end of Parley Street (Trail of Hope Parking), or to the southeast of Kimball and Main Streets near the Taylor Home Print Shop and Post Office (Main Street Trades Parking). There is also parking available at most of the historic buildings, activity areas, near the Nauvoo Temple as well as in the parking garage, and at the nearby stake center. Keep in mind that not all lots are paved.

Tour buses and RVs may park in the west lot of the Visitors’ Center, at the far west end of Parley Street, north of the Family Living Center, or at the lots located to the southeast of Kimball and Main Streets.

Food and Lodging

Food and drinks are not available for purchase inside Historic Nauvoo. Rather, drinking fountains are dispersed throughout the sites. View a map of drinking fountains. Drinks are available for purchase at the Red Brick Store in the Joseph Smith Historic Site (operated by Community of Christ).
