Just what we are looking for
  • Category Alignment
    • The work highlights an individual, family, or group of people and their connec-tion to Latter-day Saint history.
  • Originality and Historical Significance
    • Using strong description, the work gives the reader a vivid understanding of the characters’ experience.
    • The work demonstrates creativity and resourcefulness in using significant primary sources. (Optional, but not required: The work may cite secondary sources.)
    • The work gives appropriate local historical, cultural, and/or linguistic context that helps readers from other cultures understand what is at stake in the story.
  • Stylistic and Technical Merit
    • Language is clear and engaging.
    • The work reflects the authentic experiences of real people. The details of the story can be verified by consulting people or records. (Optional, but not required: A bibliography is supplied, with references that are cited in a style consistent with local academic standards.)
    • Technical presentation allows the story to be easily heard, viewed, or read.

    • The work is mostly based in the authentic experiences of real people. The details of the story may be hard to verify by consulting people or records.
    • Technical presentation has some problems, at times making the story difficult to hear, view, or read.

  • Originality and Historical Significance
    • The work does not include many details giving the reader an understanding of the characters’ experience.
    • The work does not use any primary sources.
    • Because of a lack of historical, cultural, and/or linguistic context, it is difficult for readers from other cultures understand what is at stake in the story.
  • Stylistic and Technical Merit
    • Language is confusing.
    • The work is not based in the authentic experiences of real people. The details of the story cannot be verified by consulting people or records.
    • The technical presentation has problems, making the story hard to hear, view, or read.
