Ward FSY Representative

Ward FSY representatives support and encourage bishoprics in approving youth for FSY and actively encouraging youth to register while monitoring the Youth Unit Report to track who has and hasn’t registered. It includes following up with youth leadership, working with parents to address their concerns and questions, and helping them feel comfortable.

Additionally, the role requires supporting youth with username and account issues, identifying any youth who might need extra support, such as those who are deaf or have disabilities, and working with parents to resolve any concerns. Encourage and support “taking it home” efforts from bishops and ward youth leaders, such as FSY talks, singing the theme song, and FSY-centered mutual activities.

Timeline of Responsibilities

April: Plan Pre-FSY Activity

  • Assist stake leaders in planning and executing a stake pre-FSY activity. Use the resources available on the Media Library, including downloadable posters, to help you with the activity. See the link below.

September through May: Remind Bishops to Approve Youth

  • Monitor approvals on the Youth Unit Report and encourage bishoprics to complete these approvals. Youth cannot register until approved.

October through March: Recruit Young Single Adults

  • Collaborate with the FSY representative to carefully consider and encourage suitable young single adult candidates to apply to work at FSY, prioritizing those who can strengthen and minister to youth. Use ministering brothers and sisters, personal interactions, ward activities, or other methods to encourage them. Ensure candidates are aligned with Church teachings and not undergoing a membership council.

October through May: Registration Support

  • Support registration efforts: troubleshoot issues, review youth unit reports, and help youth get preregistered and registered.
  • Promote FSY and ensure all information about assigned sessions is communicated.
  • Encourage youth registration and ensure they test their login prior to the stake’s registration date.
  • Monitor the Youth Unit Report to help with youth approvals and registration.

Who Do I Work With?

Stake FSY Representative

  • Take guidance from representatives in supporting your ward. Work together to resolve any challenges you’re facing with registration, building unity, and increasing enthusiasm among youth, parents, and leaders (see Stake FSY Representative).

Stake Young Women and Young Men Presidents

Bishopric or Branch Presidency

  • Support and execute any FSY related tasks they advise. Regularly communicate and plan how to support stake and ward leaders in their FSY responsibilities, how to increase registration percentages, and promotional efforts owned by Young Men quorum and Young Women class presidencies (see Bishopric or Branch Presidency).

Ward Young Women and Young Men Leaders

Young Men Quorum and Young Women Class Presidencies

  • Together, work to invite less active or unregistered youth to attend FSY. Support their efforts in planning FSY centered activities before and after their sessions.
  • Ward or Stake Disability Specialist
  • Council together when registration and accommodation questions arise as you help youth and parents with registration. Ensure youth and parents submit accommodation requests no more than 30 days before the session begins (see Young Men Quorum and Young Women Class Presidencies).
